This piece tells the story of a community that is unable to listen to their elders and indigenous ancestors because their daily despairs blinds them. I cast myself as a parasitic monster that emerges from the world's pains. The community is so horrified by this monster that they ignore the real issues that created it. Desperations climb, and the monster realizes that viewing itself as the problem keeps it from creating change within. However, love and closeness bring them out of the trance. Ultimately, there's an urgency that can no longer be ignored. Time is running, and all we have is each other. Set to northern Mexican corridos and chaos, this piece goes to hell and back to instill tiny seeds of hope and to urge us to listen.
